At a Glance

This institute was established in 1952. It is located in Sylhet, a north eastern district of Bangladesh. It is one of the oldest Primary Teachers’ Training Institutes among 67 Government Primary Teachers’ Training Institutes in Bangladesh.

The main responsibility of this institute is to provide foundation training (Diploma in Primary Education) to the teachers of government primary schools. Diploma in Primary Education (DPEd) is an 18 months long course. In addition to this course, the institute conducts other short- term training (Subject-based Training, ICT in Education Training, ToT etc.), workshop, view exchange meeting etc.

This institute works under the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, Government of the People Bangladesh and at the same time maintain liaison with the Directorate of Primary Education, National Academy of Primary Education and District Primary Education Administration in performing administrative and academic functions.
